The Dangers of Binge Drinking Anti-alcohol Educational Video. Public domain video and public service announcement courtesy of SAMHSA. U.S. Department of Health & Human Services. Binge Drinking and Youth: What Everyone Needs To Know. Sponsor: CSAT. Host: Ivette Torres, Associate Director for Consumer Affairs, Center for Substance Abuse Treatment (CSAT), Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). Invited Panelists: Steve Wing, Associate Administrator for Alcohol Policy, Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (HHS); Ralph Hingson, National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism (NIAAA), National Institutes of Health (HHS); Hope Taft (First Lady of Ohio), Leadership to Keep Children Alcohol Free; Clarke Brown, Youth Services Division, Hazelden Treatment and Rehabilitation Centers. Results from the 2003 National Survey on Drug Use and Health show that 25 percent of Americans aged 17 had reported binge drinking (i.e., five or more drinks on the same occasion). By age 21, the percentage of binge drinkers had increased to 48 percent. College is clearly a catalyst for alcohol use; in fact, young adults aged 18 to 22 who don't attend college drink less than those who do attend. Many binge drinkers in college begin experimenting with alcohol in high school. Students may not want to think about it, but young people can become alcohol dependent and many will die from excessive alcohol consumption. This program will reveal the subcultures and behaviors that support binge drinking while highlighting prevention, early interventions, and treatment options. Alcohol use among youth is associated with a wide variety of risky behaviors and poor outcomes, including unprotected sexual intercourse, vulnerability to coerced sexual activity, the use of marijuana, and poor academic performance. In 2003, nearly a third of all traffic deaths among youth ages 15 to 20 were alcohol-related.3 Alcohol use among adolescents is also related to an increased risk of alcohol dependence in adulthood. Binge drinking can contribute to many health disorders including cancer, liver, pancreatic and cardiovascular diseases, as well as a variety of gastrointestinal problems, neurological disorders and reproductive system disorders. Environmental risk factors associated with adolescent drinking include having alcoholic parents; a lack of parental support, monitoring, and communication; and having peers who drink. The percentage of adolescents in grades eight and ten who report engaging in binge drinking (five or more drinks in a row in the previous two weeks) declined modestly during the late 1990's and early 2000's. In 2006, rates were 11 percent among eighth graders and 22 percent among tenth graders. Among twelfth graders, the percentage engaging in binge drinking declined from 32 percent in 1998 to 27 percent in 2006. Earlier data for twelfth grade students indicate an overall drop from 41 percent in 1981 to 30 percent by 1991. To most people, binge drinking brings to mind a self-destructive and unrestrained drinking bout lasting for at least a couple of days during which time the heavily intoxicated drinker "drops out" by not working, ignoring responsibilities, squandering money, and engaging in other harmful behaviors such as fighting or risky sex. This view is consistent with that portrayed in dictionary definitions, in literature, in art, and in plays or films such as the classic Come Back Little Sheeba and Lost Weekend or the recent Leaving Las Vegas. It is also consistent with the usage of physicians and other clinicians. As the editor of the Journal of Studies on Alcohol emphasizes, binge describes an extended period of time (typically at least two days) during which time a person repeatedly becomes intoxicated and gives up his or her usual activities and obligations in order to become intoxicated. It is the combination of prolonged use and the giving up of usual activities that forms the core of the clinical definition of binge.

For further reading & to educate yourself about the TRUTH regarding WATER FLUORIDATION VISIT: www.fluoridealert.org The Phosphate Fertilizer Industry: An Environmental Overview www.fluoridealert.org/phosphate/overview.htm gypsum stack sinkholes www.fluoridealert.org/phosphate/sinkhole.htm PLEASE READ THIS BELOW: It's a summary of how Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal, Louisiana Department of Health & Hospitals (DHH), the Louisiana & American Dental Associations (LDA/ADA ) and Senator Willie Mount of Lake Charles created a mandate to dump the super toxin, Hydrofluorosilicic Acid & Sodium Fluorosilicate into Louisiana's Drinking water - Bobby Jindal hired Alan Levine & Rony Francois, Md, MSPH, Phd to head up the Louisiana Department of Health & Hospitals. Both of these men worked for Jeb Bush in Florida's department of Health & Hospitals. Florida is home to the largest Fertilizer Industry in the US where 95% of the Fluoride waste chemical comes from that is used to fluoridate water in the USA. At a meeting (where I was present) with the Louisiana Department of Health & Hospitals (DHH) in Baton Rouge on April 22, 2009 Secretary of DHH Alan Levine, and his Assistant to the Secretary Rony Francois (Md, MSPH, Phd) claimed to have NO KNOWLEDGE of any of the dangers and hazards surrounding water fluoridation. And yet it is these two men who worked for Jeb Bush in Florida, home to the largest producers of Hydrofluorosilicic Acid & Sodium Fluorosilicate fertilizer waste product, which is used to fluoridate Humans Drinking water. These men have been put in charge of administering this fluoride waste toxin to all citizens of Louisiana, to include: babies, pregnant women, the sick, the poor, Kidney dialysis patients, people with immunity disorder issues, Thyroid disorders, Diabetics.... etc and yet they admitted that they knew of no dangers or hazards regarding water fluoridation. Dr. Paul Connett, (Emeritus Environmental Chemistry Phd. & founder of www.fluoridealert.org) a widely recognized anti-fluoridation expert was present at this meeting to explain to the heads of Louisiana's Department of Health & hospitals that Water Fluoridation is extremely toxic to humans and under no circumstances should water fluoridation be mandated without the consent of the citizens of Louisiana. So, I ask all of you, is Bobby Jindal anything other than a social climbing politician? Another politician who will say anything, do anything to advance his political ambitions, (-Didn't his unbelievable speech to the nation point out just what a GOON Jindal really is.) even if it means poisoning Louisiana Citizens drinking water, without their consent. The people of Louisiana have no idea this is even happening and have no education about water fluoridation other than the Fluoridation influence peddling from their dentists and the LDA/ADA. Specifically, DDS, Ward Blackwell the head of the LDA. This dentist went before the Louisiana Legislature and flat out lied to them about the safety of water fluoridation. There were no opposing experts there during the legislative session to present the known dangers of water fluoridation; Data, studies and statistics that have been there for over 60yrs demonstrating that Water Fluoridation is not only NOT necessary, it's terribly toxic to humans. You can watch DDS, Ward Blackwell on Video making what is tantamount to medical malpractice statements before the Louisiana Legislature: DDS, Ward Blackwell's words: "there simply are no documented safety issues with fluoridation". www.wesawthat.blogspot.com/2008/07/sb312-how-mandatory-fl... This is the fight to fight. It's for the safety of your drinking water. Jindal should be impeached for signing SB 312 into law. He ignored all of the emails and phone calls from those who did know about SB 312. (I only found out thanks to www.flouridealert.org) And to make things worse, the people Jindal has appointed to head DHH in Louisiana claimed to know NOTHING about the dangers surrounding Water Fluoridation. How medically irresponsible and incompetent can you get? Especially regarding something as important as the safety of your drinking water. Jindal signed SB 312 into law, and it's a MANDATE to poison what is some of the best drinking water in the world, Baton Rouge's water comes from natural well water aquifers. The unthinkable is happening, Six months after Jindal became governor there appears a law mandating that Hydrofluorosilicic Acid be added as medication to citizens drinking water WITHOUT THEIR CONSENT. And with NO WAY to CONTROL the DOSE JINDAL = MASS MEDICATION of CITIZENS via DRINKING WATER with a SUPER TOXIN - WITHOUT THE ABILITY TO CONTROL the DOSE And the SB 312 law is designed so that it is almost impossible to have it overturned in your city. You'd have to get 15% (they initially wanted it to be 30% but the congress rejected it) of the people in your city to sign a legitimate petition and THEN force a vote where over 50% of the citizens would have to vote out the fluoridation mandate. This is no easy task. This is why Louisiana must force Jindal To REVOKE SB 312. All citizens of Louisiana, please get involved and demand that Jindal REVOKE SB 312. DON"T WAIT !! **** If the citizens of Louisiana rest on our laurels, grant funding or some other way to implement water fluoridation will no doubt happen. __________________________________________________________ Text Body of Flyer: In July, 2008 Bobby Jindal signed into law SB 312 sponsored by Senator Willie Mount of Lake Charles & the Louisiana Dental Association (LDA) & the American Dental Association (ADA). This insidious law mandates that Louisiana's water supplies be poisoned with fluoride waste chemical (by-product of the Fertilizer industry) known specifically as, Hydrofluorosilicic Acid & Sodium Fluorosilicate -which contains Arsenic, Lead, Mercury and even highly radioactive Uranium which is found in phosphate rock used to make fertilizer. In the middle of a historic depression in the US Jindal & DHH (Department of Health & Hospitals) is creating a tax on your water to the tune of millions of dollars to add Fluoride Waste Super Toxins to your water. Why is this? Ask Jindal & Secretary of DHH, Alan Levine,. - FACT: If you dump this same waste in a river you'll go to jail, and yet these people intend to put this same chemical in your drinking water. Claiming that when sufficiently diluted in water these super poisons are rendered harmless. † Malpractice false. The costs to add Hydrofluorosilicic Acid or Sodium Fluorosilicate to Baton Rouge's 80 separate and pristine natural water aquifers will be $8,553,559.90 for the first six months. The state is supposed pay (** often outside grants or funding is obtained to quietly begin the fluoridation) for the first six months costs for water fluoridation. Thereafter, the citizens of Baton Rouge will pay a huge price tag for adding Hydrofluorosilicic Acid & Sodium Fluorosilicate to your water. The PRICE OF YOUR WATER WILL GO UP SIGNIFICANTLY. Baton Rouge Water Co. Just announced it's first price increase in 17 yrs. Think of what you will be paying if DHH fluoridates our Great World Class water in Baton Rouge. ****Call & Email: Governor Jindal, (DHH) Department of Health & Hospitals Secretary Alan Levine, your Senators ( Willie Mount) & Representatives, Mayor Kip Holden, Baton Rouge Water Company, The Advocate, Local TV News Stations and your local Churches and DEMAND that SB 312 (2008) be REVOKED. Facts about Fluoridation & Important Questions to ask Jindal, DHH Alan Levine & the politicians who voted MANDATORY Fluoridation into law: 1. Baton Rouge has 80 separate well water aquifers. It is extremely IMPRACTICAL & EXPENSIVE to fluoridate all these water sites. Does DHH have test results indicating that each of these 80 water sites are fluoride deficient? If not, what is the basis for adding additional fluoride waste chemical to perfectly healthy drinking water? Especially since Hydrofluorosilicic Acid is extremely toxic. 2. Since DHH will be medicating citizens by adding supplemental Fluoride to their drinking water, who is legally & medically responsible for this program? Can DHH provide contact information for the physician in charge of administering fluoride "medication" to the population? 3. What dose of Fluoride does DHH plan to prescribe to each citizen? How does DHH plan to administer & control fluoride doses for individual citizens who may drink more water than others? 4. Given that there is ample public access to fluoride products such as toothpaste, mouth wash, dental floss and pharmaceutical fluoride pills, what need could there possibly be to add Hydrofluorosilicic Acid to drinking water? Especially since 99 1/2% of water goes down the drain. Water fluoridation is a wasted & significant expense for taxpayers. 5 .Since DHH is claiming that all citizens are fluoride deficient and need to have fluoride chemical added to their water, how does DHH intend to prove which patients need additional fluoride supplements & those who clearly do not? If DHH cannot TEST all CITIZENS BLOOD to determine why DHH might medicate them, with anything, let alone additional fluoride in their system, how is it legal to administer fluoride as a medication via citizens drinking water, without their consent ? Is this the year 2009 or 1650? Water Fluoridation is a Medieval practice. 6. Can DHH provide toxicity studies done on Hydrofluorosilicic Acid & Sodium Fluorosilicate that prove definitively that adding these specific chemicals to drinking water is safe for infants, children, pregnant women, the elderly and citizens with compromised immunity issues such as Kidney & Thyroid disorders etc... 7. Will DHH educate the public re: the fact that 95% of the fluoride chemical used in water fluoridation in the US comes in the form of a chemical waste product (Silicofluorides) produced by manufacturing Fertilizer? - THIS is a KEY FACT that the PUBLIC NEEDS TO KNOW about.†† 8 . It is illegal to dump Silicofluorides into a river or ocean & yet it is these chemicals, Hydrofluorosilicic Acid & Sodium Fluorosilicate that DHH will be adding to your drinking water. Like I said, CRIME AGAINST HUMANITY. 9. What business do dentists, LDA & ADA have advocating (and spending a lot of money to do so) mass medication of citizens, without their consent, via their drinking water? The "It's good for your teeth argument" is a fraud, it's been proven time and again all over the world, water fluoridation is completely unnecessary for optimal dental health 10. In 2006, the ADA began warning dentists and it's constituents (not publicly) that using fluoridated water with baby formula for infants is dangerous & toxic to the babies blood/brain barrier. So, it's poisoning them. Adults are no different.

PEER (Program for Environmental and Ecological Reform)continues to grow as needs grow and has become the nonprofit ASC (Aim for the Sun Consortium). The initial experience we provide is for many students the first time shipboard. The academic disciplines that we knit into this experience includes humanities, fresh water biology, and marine sciences. All ages of students and teachers are welcome to participate. We offer teachers communication training for understanding at-risk-youth. Our main focus is to reach out to high-school and college-age students, who no longer attend formal school. However, we also work with public, private, and home schoolers -- as well as single Mothers and their families. PEER and ASC have a long history of innovation and have more to offer at a time of greater needs than ever. We are seeking a dream team of people devoted to continuing what we have provided and expanding.Currently we need to retrieve all office and library supplies of PEER/ASC and truck them to our new base location in California. The current need will function as a volunteer eco-vacation and provide adventures in ground breaking education, academic and volunteer credit. Malkah Hegel has always pursued studying the Marine Sciences from the time she discovered her passion as a child. She formally studied the Humanities at Northwestern then transfered to Francis Shimmer College where she received a full ride scholarship to Oxford. Though she did not except the scholarship -- being a single mother, she received a letter of reference from John Walsh, President of International Maritime Inc., stating that, "while she does not have a doctorate, I believe she's achieved advanced standing in the field of Marine Environmental Affairs." Cathlene Schandelmyer-Bartels, a mother and social service worker, wrote "It is essential to the survival of our community that our teenagers have access to such programs as what Ms. Hegel has to offer."

The 2005 legislative session convincingly demonstrated that this environment has forever changed. Unless the citizens of Texas band together to codify their freedom to access the health care modalities of their choice, progressively more onerous restrictions on health care choice will be imposed by economically motivated special interest groups and their allies in the legislature. Internationally recognized public health expert Dr. Mary Gilchrist is interviewed in this 29 minute program. Gilchrist is the recently ousted director of the University Hygienic Lab at the University of Iowa. She was asking for lab space for state public health that would provide for a pandemic of avian influenza (among other health threats). In her lawsuit against UI President Gary Fethke and UI VP of Research Meredith Hay she says that Hay cut 12,000 feet of new lab space and that Fethke told her, "You stuck your neck out for what you believed in and we just can't live with it."This program first aired April 30, 2007 on PATV's "Live & Local."Visit PATV's website for more info:http://www.patv.tvAnd visit Gilchrist's website for more info about public health in Iowa, & the University Hygienic Lab (Iowa's Environmental and Public Health Laboratory):http://www.iowanswantthebestlab.org/i..."Does it make sense that the public health lab for all Iowans should be controlled by the University of Iowa with oversight only by the Board of Regents? http://www.Cellphonelies.com The Ossining School Board voted to allow placement of a PCS Base Station atop the Ossining High School on the basis of a "Safety Analysis" which claimed to report the health effects of the radiation emitted from such antennas.(1) Instead, it suppressed current areas of controversy and uncertainty and claimed falsely that this technology is, in effect, universally considered safe. Critical questions concerning the health effects and safety of radiofrequency electromagnetic radiation (RF) remain! Should we expose our children and ourselves to this radiation for the next twenty years when so much uncertainty exists? Our School Board was told that concerns about health effects from exposure to magnetic fields from electric power distribution lines or the use of hand held cell phones are based on fear, not fact. The Board was not told that a National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences panel this year designated power frequency electromagnetic fields (EMF) as "possible human carcinogens."(2) There is a robust and ongoing controversy over many aspects of RF health effects. While no one disagrees that serious health hazards occur when living cells in the body are heated, as happens with high intensity RF exposure (just like in a microwave oven), scientists are currently still investigating the health hazards of low intensity exposure. Low intensity exposure is exposure which does not raise the temperature of the living cells in the body. The telecommunications industry claims cellular antennas are safe because the radiation they produce is too weak to cause heating, a "thermal effect." They point to "safety standards" from groups such as ANSI/IEEE or ICNIRP to support their claims. But these groups have explicitly stated that their claims of "safe levels of exposure" are based on thermal levels.(3) Thus the claim that the RF exposure is harmless rests on the fact that it is too weak to produce a rise in temperature, a "thermal effect." There is a large body of internationally accepted scientific evidence which points to the existence of nonthermal effects of microwave radiation. The issue at the present time is not whether such evidence exists, but rather what weight to give it.Internationally acknowledged experts in the field of RF research have shown that RF of the type used in digital cellular antennas and phones can have critical effects on cell cultures, animals, and people in laboratories and have also found epidemiological evidence (studies of communities, not in the laboratory) of serious health effects at "non-thermal levels," where the intensity of the radiation was too low to cause heating. They have found: Increased cell growth of brain cancer cells(4) A doubling of the rate of lymphoma in mice(5) Changes in tumor growth in rats(6) An increased number of tumors in rats(7) Increased breaks in double and single stranded DNA, our genetic material(8) 2 to 4 times as many cancers in Polish soldiers exposed to RF(9) More childhood leukemia in children exposed to RF(10) Changes in sleep patterns and REM type sleep(11) Headaches caused by RF exposure(12) Neurologic changes(13) including Changes in the blood-brain-barrier(14) Changes in cellular morphology (including cell death)(15) Changes in neural electrophysiology (EEG)(16) Changes in neurotransmitters (which affect motivation and pain perception)(17) Metabolic changes (of calcium ions, for instance)(18) Cytogenetic effects (which can affect cancer, Alzheimer's, neurodegenerative diseases)(19) Decreased memory, attention, and slower reaction time in school children(20) Retarded learning in rats indicating a deficit in spatial "working memory"(21) Increased blood pressure in healthy men(22) Damage to eye cells when combined with commonly used glaucoma medications(23) Many national and international organizations have recognized the need to define the true risk of low intensity, non-thermal RF exposure, calling for intensive scientific investigation to answer the open questions. These include: The World Health Organization, noting reports of "cancer, reduced fertility, memory loss, and adverse changes in the behavior and development of children."(24) The U. S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA)(25) The International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC)(26) The Swedish Work Environmental Fund(27) The National Cancer Institute (NCI)(28) The European Commission (EC)(29) New Zealand's Ministry of Health(30) National Health and Medical Research Council of Australia(31) Commonwealth Scientific Industrial Research Organization of Australia (CSIRO)(32) Non-thermal effects are recognized by experts on RF and health to be potential health hazards. Safe levels of RF exposure for these low intensity, non-thermal effects have not yet been established. http://www.Cellphonelies.com

Algae to be Refined Into Cost-Effective, Non-Polluting BiodieselCan algae -- the green slime that forms on the top of stagnant pools -- reduce greenhouse gas emissions and be the source of a new renewable bio-fuel? The Holy Grail in the renewable energy sector has been to create a clean, green process which uses only light, water and air to create fuel. Vertigro Energy is a joint venture between Global Green Solutions and Valcent Products. Vertigro's algae-to-biofuel technology mass produces algae and extracts algae oil. This oil can be refined into a cost-effective, non-polluting diesel biofuel. The algae derived fuel will be an energy efficient replacement for fossil fuels and can be used in any diesel powered vehicle or machinery. In addition, 90% by weight of the algae is captured carbon dioxide, which is "sequestered" by this process, contributing significantly to the reduction of greenhouse gases. The Vertigro technology was developed in response to a huge unsatisfied demand for vegetable oil feedstock by biodiesel refiners and marketers. Biodiesel, in 2000, was the only alternative fuel in the United States to have successfully completed the Environmental Protection Agency required Tier I and Tier II health effects testing under the Clean Air Act. A U.S. Department of Energy study has shown that the production and use of biodiesel, compared to petroleum diesel, resulted in a 78.5% reduction in carbon dioxide emissions. For more information, please visit: www.valcent.net
